Application Modernization

Modernize the applications your business depends on, with controlled delivery.

CirOps modernizes legacy applications across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure through monolith decomposition, containerization, database modernization, and cloud-native re-architecture. Delivery proceeds in controlled phases with validation and rollback criteria defined for the workload.

The Modernization Trigger

The application that got you here is holding you back

Every application accumulates constraints over time: a monolith that made sense at ten engineers slows down a team of fifty. A database engine that was current five years ago is now the reason a security review stalls. Tight coupling means a small change in one feature risks breaking three unrelated ones.

The fix is not always a rewrite, and it is rarely a single cutover. Migration phases define traffic changes, validation, maintenance requirements, and rollback criteria around the workload.

What We Deliver

From assessment to production cutover

Legacy Application Assessment

We map dependencies, data flows, and coupling points in the existing application before touching a line of code, so the modernization plan is based on how the system actually behaves, not just its architecture diagram.

Monolith Decomposition

Service boundaries defined around business domains, not arbitrary code splits. We favor the strangler pattern, extracting services incrementally behind a stable interface, over a full rewrite.

Containerization

We package applications into reproducible container images and deploy them to the platform selected for the workload, including the supported Kubernetes environments. On AWS, this can include ECS, EKS, or Fargate.

Database Modernization

Migration from self-managed or end-of-life database engines to managed services, schema modernization where required, and a cutover plan that accounts for replication lag and rollback.

API-First Refactoring

Tightly coupled internal calls replaced with defined API contracts, so extracted services can be developed, deployed, and scaled independently.

Cutover and Rollback Planning

Every migration phase ships with a tested rollback path. Traffic shifts incrementally, validated against defined success criteria before the next phase begins.

Is This Right For You?

Built for teams constrained by what they already built

  • →Engineering teams whose release velocity has slowed because changes to one part of a monolith risk breaking unrelated features.
  • →Companies running applications on end-of-life runtimes, frameworks, or database engines that are becoming a security and support liability.
  • →Teams that need to scale specific parts of an application independently and cannot, because the monolith scales as one unit.
  • →Organizations that inherited a legacy codebase through acquisition or team turnover and need an accurate picture of what modernization actually requires.

Process

How we modernize

1

Assessment and Roadmap

We document the current architecture, dependencies, and risk areas, then produce a phased modernization roadmap with clear milestones and rollback points, not a single high-risk cutover.

2

Incremental Migration

Services are extracted and migrated one bounded piece at a time, validated in production alongside the legacy system before traffic fully shifts.

3

Production Cutover

Traffic shifts to the modernized components on a tested schedule, with monitoring and rollback criteria defined before cutover begins.

4

Post-Migration Optimization

Once traffic is fully migrated, we tune the new architecture for cost and performance and document the system for the team that operates it going forward.
